Here are some photographs of the recent Bhikkhuni ordinations at the Dhammasara Nunnery in Perth, and its confirmation by the monks at Bodhinyana. They are provided courtesy of Ayya Tathaaloka, who acted as pavattini at the ordination.
A very clear presentation of the foundation, history and need to reestablish the Bhikkhuni ordination by one of its most articulate proponents, Bhante Sujato.
This talk was given in Perth a few months before the Perth ordinations which caused such an (unnecessary) uproar in the Thai hierarchy in 2009.
As always Bhante doesn’t shy away from the awkward issues that arise with the position of women in Buddhism, but tackles them head-on and shows another side to the story also.
