Gotami Vihara – 1st Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, 1 June 2013

1-year-anniversaryHow time flies!  Gotami Vihara is going to be 1 year old on 1st June 2013.  To mark our 1st milestone, we invite supporters, friends and well wishers to come and celebrate with us.


9.00am                  Arrival of the Maha Sangha and guests

9.00 – 9.10            Welcome speech by Dr Lai Suat Yan, Vice-President of GV

9.10 – 9.30            Puja Offering:

Harmonica performance ‘Ehi Pasiko’ and singing ‘The Ancient Wheel of Samsara’ in Mandarin by visually challenged friends, Sis Lim Siew Chong, Godfrey Ooi (guitar), Albert Kong and 2 children to usher in devotees bearing candles, flowers and fruits.

9.30 -9.45             Puja Chanting led by Venerable Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera

9.45 – 10.30          Sharing by Venerable Sing Kan on ‘My Experience of Going Forth‘

10.30 – 10.45        Playing the Pipa by Bro Chong Fa Lin. He will give an introduction to pipa music with excepts from music pieces

10.45 – 11.20         Dhamma sharing by Venerable Saranankara on ‘The Role of Women in Buddhism’

11.30 – 12.30 pm    Sanghika Dana for Monastics and pot-luck lunch for devotees

12.30 – 12.50         ‘Wesak Dawn’ and other songs by Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society Sunday School Choir

12.50 – 1.50           Dhamma talk by Sister Sumangala on her study of ‘Buddhist Women Teachers: Ordained and Lay and their Contributions Towards the Growth of Buddhism in Malaysia.’

1.50 – 2.00            Playing of cd on Ven Lekshe Tsomo’s chanting of the mantras

2.00 – 3.00            ‘An Afternoon of Meditation Practice,’ led by Sister Sumangala / Sharing of Merits

3.00pm                 Refreshment and End of Celebration

Located on the 2nd floor of a shoplot at K37-C, Jalan TK 1/11A, Taman Kinrara, 47180 Puchong, Selangor, Malaysia (former premise of Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society).  It is on the main Puchong Road, same row as Giant Supermarket.

Devotees are invited to offer vegetarian breakfast dana at 7.30am or lunch dana at 11.30am to Venerables during their stay in GV.

Opportunity To Stay in GV for Self Practice

We welcome lay women devotees or any aspiring female renunciates to take the opportunity to stay in GV whenever we have a renunciate(s) staying in, to get to know the venerables and to do some self practice.

All are welcome to offer breakfast, lunch and transport dana or drop by to have a discussion session with Venerables.

Brief Profiles

Samaneri Dr. Visudhi is a Malaysian nun from Kedah based in Australia. She was ordained as a samaneri in 2007 under Ven. Dhammavaro from Australia at Siladidhamma Pavarasaya Vihara in Perak. She took another ordination under Bhante Vajiradhamma in Bhaddekaratta Hermitage in Johor and practice under Bhante Vajiradhamma for 2 and a half years. Since then, she has lived and practiced in India, Thailand and Australia.

Prior to her renunciation, Samaneri Dr. Visudhi served as a Medical Officer in Sabah for 8 years in Hospital Tuaran, then in Klinik Kesihatan Ibu dan Anak. She was also a Training Commissioner with the Buddhist Tzu Chi Merit Society, Kota Kinabalu Liaison Centre.

Samaneri Nanda Mata is a Malaysian nun from Kedah. She was ordained as a 10 precepts nun by Ven Dhammavaro at Buddharatana Monastery, Australia on 10 May 2012.

Samaneri Nanda is 71 years old and is currently living and practicing at Buddharatana Monastery, Australia.

She is Samaneri Dr. Visudhi’s mother.
